Rose Hill Handicap Hurdle
The Rose Hill Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles, named after a local beauty spot near Cheltenham racecourse, was part of the inaugural Festival in 1911. It was not a part of future cards, but the one time it was contested it was won by Hardingstone (5/4 fav). Early history:-The only time the Rose Hill Handicap Hurdle was staged was on Thursday 9th March 1911 when Hardingstone (5/4 fav) owned by Frank Manning, trained by R Payne and ridden by Bill Payne, beat Bellemontine (3/1) ridden by George Duller and Greentoi (8/1) ridden by Alf Newey by 2 lengths and 10 lengths. |
